The goals of the Clark Street Common Sustainable Neighbourhood are to connect with neighbours and the local community, and to clean up and restore Clark Street Common in New Lynn.

Their vision is to encourage Auckland Transport & Auckland Council to provide public access through the reserve by building a walkway along the Avondale Stream to connect Olympic Park to McWhirter Place.

The neighbourhood also have safety concerns around the culvert at the northern end of the reserve at the junction of Clark Street and Wolverton Street. The neighbourhood, who have begun clearing weeds and rubbish and planting natives, includes business owners at the Portage Business Park, residents of Ulster Avenue, McWhirter Place and Clark Street and also Avondale Church.

To support the neighbourhood’s vision contact Natalie Wilkinson, Sustainable Neighbourhood Facilitator at The Whau River Catchment Trust on 09 827 3374 or 021 295 0136 or email  natalie@whauriver.org.nz.
